We Transformed Our Design Showroom Into a Llama Wool Experience

We Transformed Our Design Showroom Into a Llama Wool Experience

From Showroom to Art Space: Behind the Scenes of Our LEGENDS Festival Installation

For this year’s LEGENDS, the iconic design festival in Los Angeles, we set out to reimagine our handmade home decor showroom — and ended up creating a full-blown llama wool textile art exhibition. What started as a retail space became an immersive experience in fiber, form, and feeling.

We partnered with Rocio and Syliva Noya, the founders of Awanay Rugs. We’ve been their exclusive representatives in California since we opened our doors, but this was the first time we had the pleasure of hosting them. They came up with the design they wanted for the showroom, and even built a prototype in their studio in Buenos Aires to make sure that it all worked.

The LEGENDS design festival usually features lots of fun parties, talks, cocktail hours, and meet and greets, but we hadn’t seen any showrooms create an immersive experience quite like this. We wanted to do something unique and new to shake things up!

Here’s how we made the transformation happen:

Creating a Portal Into Our World

To start, we knew we wanted the entrance to feel magical — like stepping into a completely different world. So we built a custom wood frame around the entire storefront and draped it with creamy beige fabric. The result? A sculptural portal that felt both ethereal and grounded — inviting visitors to enter a space dedicated to the llama wool textile decor.

Engineering the Exhibition Space

Inside, our artisan partners from Awanay designed a gallery-style layout inspired by museum installations. We had custom metal grids specially fabricated just for this project. We suspended them from the ceiling studs, creating a floating framework to showcase our llama wool curtains and sheep wool rugs.

Textile Totems and Wavy Forms

Next came the textiles themselves — our signature llama wool curtains and rugs. But we didn’t hang them on regular curtain rods. Instead, we bent metal bars into undulating, wavy shapes and let the drapery follow those organic lines. The effect was soft, sculptural movement across the room. We also created rug totems by suspending rolled runners from the grids with fishing line and lit them dramatically to emphasize the texture and color of each piece. Every element in the space was chosen to highlight the handmade artistry and sustainable roots of our designs.

Welcome to LEGENDS

When everything came together — the frame, the fabric, the gridwork, the waves, and the wool — our space felt entirely new. Not just a showroom, but an art installation. A tactile story about craftsmanship and creativity. We were so proud to welcome visitors during LEGENDS and share our world of llama wool and handmade decor.
